This page contains antique bottles used for inks--before the advent of ink pens! The small ink bottles were used to dip ink quills into. The larger ink bottles, called master inks, were used to refill the smaller bottles.

ID#: INK008

Type: Desk Inkwell, circa 1870

Color & Size: Clear, 3"

Embossing: none

Description: This is one big beautiful inkwell. It may have had a pontil scar, but the base was carved out for a drain hole (sealed with a cork/rubber stopper). The drain would have been used to clean old ink or change ink colors. It's a solid piece, well-designed for self-defense, too. A couple of tiny nicks keeps it from being MINT--it's in excellent condition.
